Dr. Trent Callahan

Dr. Trent Callahan graduated from University of Missouri in May of 1998 with a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine . After graduating from Ballard High School, Dr. Callahan attended and completed College of the Ozarks’ pre-Veterinary program. Dr. Callahan practiced veterinary medicine for 11 years in Butler prior to starting his own clinic. In 2008, Trent and Melissa Callahan bought and remodeled the old Massey Ferguson building in Butler, Missouri, opening The Bates County Veterinarian Clinic. When not working at the clinic or on call, Trent spends his spare time farming west of Montrose, Missouri where he and Missy live with their two children, Sudie and Cade, and a wide array of animals.


Dr. Joely Roe-Johnson

Dr. Joely Roe-Johnson joined the Bates County Veterinary Clinic in July of 2023. She graduated from Purdue University with a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in May of 2023. She spent her childhood living in Alabama and Idaho on the family ranch, surrounded by a wide variety of animals including registered Horned Hereford and Angus cattle. Those experiences sparked her interest to become a veterinarian. Dr. Joely and her husband, Trent Johnson, reside in southeast Kansas on the family ranch. Dr. Joely enjoys spending time with her Pembroke Welsh Corgi named Stella, along with numerous farm cats and dogs. She especially enjoys family time, being outdoors, ranch life, and sports.


Dr. Doug Skivers

Dr. Doug Skivers is a 1995 graduate of K-State College of Veterinary Medicine. He currently resides out by Adrian, MO. He has 2 daughters that he immensely enjoys spending time with. Dr. Doug Skivers joined the Bates County Veterinary Clinic in 2022


Jo Pippin

Jo Pippin has been with the clinic since the opening. She and her husband, Dale, own a cattle farm and a drywall business. She has worked with cattle all her life and is always willing to take on any job she is handed. The Pippins have two grown children, Jamie Loe and Darren Pippin along with two grandchildren, Avery Jo and Grayson Dale.


Karol Vanhorn

Karol Vanhorn joined us in January of 2013. Karol is married to Dallas Vanhorn and they have two sons, Carey and Dalton. They reside on a farm outside of Butler. Karol is quick to take on new challenges and learn new experiences. She enjoys being outdoors and being with family and friends.


Missy Callahan

Melissa Callahan graduated from College of the Ozarks with a Bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness and computer science. She previously worked for eighteen years in the banking industry. This has proved beneficial for Missy as she works with the financial, inventory, and record-keeping of the clinic. She enjoys athletics, landscaping, and her two children.


Ray Cummings

Ray Cummings joined our team in June of 2018. Ray is a 2018 graduate of Ballard R2 High School. In her free time she enjoys spending time with family, and her cats, Ganow and Deanie, and her lizard named Lunchbox.


Nancy Hedrick

Nancy Hedrick and her husband Eddie have two grown sons. When Nancy is not at the clinic, she is helping her husband with his cattle, their hauling business, and spending time with her family. Nancy brings to the clinic over ten years experience in the pharmaceutical industry.


Sage Moise

Sage Moise joined our team in June of 2014. Sage is a 2013 graduate of Butler High School. Sage is married to Jesse Moise and they have one son, Dixon. Sage has worked on the farm for most of her life. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her husband, son, family, friends and owns a variety of animals that she loves taking care of.


Steve Gwin

Steve Gwin joined our team in June of 2021. He attended the University of Missouri-Columbia and moved to Butler in the spring of 2011 while working for a different company. His father is a retired veterinarian from Chillicothe Missouri, so he grew up in a clinic setting and with his previous management and supervisory experience has come to our clinic as the Business Office Manager. Steve has three grown boys and enjoys spending time with his family, partner, dogs, and working on landscaping.


Haley Bolling

Haley Bolling joined us in April 2022 and is a 2021 graduate of Adrian R3 High School. She has grown up on a farm and worked with a variety of animals her entire life. When she is not at the clinic she enjoys spending time with family and friends, hunting, fishing, showing livestock, and training horses.


Audrey Jackson

Audrey Jackson started with us in February of 2022. She graduated from University of Central Missouri in 2023 with a degree in Animal Science. She was raised on a farm. When Audrey isn’t working, she enjoys hanging out with family, friends, working out and taking care of all her animals.
